In March, I was invited by Armenian International Women's Association (AIWA) at the UN Conference on the Status of Women (CSW69) in New York. Topic: "Silent No More - strengthening the voice of Armenian women", with a focus on Negotiations & Mediation as tools for peacekeeping.
The focus was on strengthening in particular Armenian womenso that they can actively contribute their skills to international conflict resolution - not as an imitation of male tactics, but with female strengths.
Although UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) emphasizes the central role of women in peace processes, most international negotiations are still predominantly conducted by men. Yet studies show that women increase the chances of successful negotiations by 35 % - and their results often last longer than 15 years.
I talked about Negotiation tactics, Negotiation psychology and about cultural and gender-specific differences in negotiation behavior.
Once again it became clear: women around the world are strong - not despitebut because of of their feminine qualities.
